What is Audi Sport?

The red rhombus (angled square) is the distinctive logo for Audi Sport, as symbol of perfectionism, performance amd adreline-induced goosebumps.  It represents Audi’s long history of success in motorsport, fuelled by passion to never stand still.

Think of Audi Sport in terms of the AMG and M sub-brands from Mercedes and BMW – the Audi S, RS and R8 production car ranges are now grouped under the sub-brand Audi Sport.  Audi South Africa is proud to announce the local launch of the Audi Sport sub-brand, as an all-encompassing brand reserved for Audi’s highest-performance cars, motorsport activities, and a specialised retail experience.  Essentially you will, as per BMW M dealer or AMG specialist dealers, a dedicated display/sales area at Audi Sport dealers.

The Audi quattro (Audi ur quattro, or original Audi quattro) of the early 1980s triggered the creation of the quattro GmbH subsidiary of Audi AG in 1983, standing for high-performance vehicle products.  Ever since the Audi RS2 Avant (the 1st Audi RS) of 1994, RS has stood for Audi cars with supercar performance and everyday practicality.

The name quattro GmbH has been absorbed by the Audi Sport brand. 

Audi Sport range

The current Audi Sport range included the Audi RS3 Sportback (the only 5-cylinder hot hatch), Audi RS Q3 (the only high-performance compact cross-over/SUV), Audi RS6 Avant (the country’s only high-performance estate car), Audi RS7 Sportback (a high-power fastback without any rival) and the new Audi R8 (the all-new supercar from Audi).

During the next year more Audi Sport models will join, namely the new Audi RS3 range, Audi TT RS, Audi RS5 Coupé (based on new A5) and Audi R8 Spyder.
