Alfa Romeo Stelvio First Edition – Alfa’s 1st SUV as high-spec launch edition

Just like the Alfa Romeo Giulia arrived in top-power Quadrifoglio Verde spec as Launch Edition and Race Edition, followed by the more attainable 2.0T and 2.0T Super models, the Alfa Romeo Stelvio SUV range is confirmed for being on its way to SA... but for the Stelvio, there is a First Edition based on the 2.0T engine, rather than the Stelvio Quadrifoglio Verde.

To recap, the Stelvio is the first Alfa Romeo SUV in the marque’s nearly 106-year history. It takes its name from the highest mountain pass in Italy, famous for its many hairpin bends. 

Since its foundation, the Alfa Romeo brand has created models capable of changing the way we drive and love cars: unique masterpieces of design and engineering that continue to be admired... never imitated, which makes Alfas unique. The Stelvio is here to meet expectations of enthusiast drivers, in a more practical and universally-favoured SUV body shell. 

Alfa Romeo Stelvio First Edition specs 

To deliver more exciting levels of performance, driving satisfaction and thrills, the 280 HP (206 kW) 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine is fitted on the Stelvio First Edition, and paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and Q4 all-wheel-drive. 

With a 0 to 100 km/h time of just 5.7 seconds, it has the best acceleration in its category. The 206kW/400Nm is a higher-output version of the 2.0T’s 147kW/330Nm fitted to the Giulia. 

The Stelvio First Edition is equipped with electrically-adjustable heated full-grain leather seats, real wood inserts, a luxury leather steering wheel, aluminium shift paddles, 20-inch alloy rims, coloured brake callipers, rear privacy glass, and courtesy lights on the door handles. The engine start button is integrated onto the steering wheel. 

The Stelvio First Edition’s standard equipment list? New active safety systems are standard: Integrated Braking System, Forward Collision Warning, Autonomous Emergency Brake and Lane Departure Warning. Other standards include a rear camera with dynamic guidelines, front and rear parking sensors, a power-operated tailgate and automatic main beam headlamps.
