8 Features To Check Out When Test Driving The Mazda CX-3.
By Chad Lückhoff
We look at eight of the best features found in the latest Mazda CX-3.
The Mazda CX-3 has been with us for a few years now and is proving to be a popular crossover for those that dare to be different. If you're looking to get yourself behind the wheel of one, then you'd better check out these great features before making your decision.
1. MZD Connect
MZD Connect is the name given to Mazda's infotainment system, and in the CX-3 it utilizes a 7-inch touchscreen as well as the clever and well-designed MZD Commander in the centre console. With connectivity for CD, BlueTooth, USB and AUX as well as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionality on new models.
Available from Dynamic trim onwards.
2. Bose Audio System
Mazda has a long history with the 55-year old American audio equipment company and you'll find some of their wares in the Mazda CX-3. Link up your device to the MZD Connect system and bang out your favourite tunes with alarming clarity and audio reproduction.
Available in Individual models.
3. Push-Button Start
It sounds like a small, trivial thing, but the push-button start is a cool and convenient solution to starting the car. You will be able to place the key fob in your pocket and start the vehicle without having to fumble for the ignition slot. Keyless entry (available on Dynamic models onwards) means that the key never has to leave your pocket, even to lock or unlock the car.
Available in all models.
4. Park Sensors with Reverse Camera
If you're still a little apprehensive about reverse parking or you're switching from a smaller car, fear not because the CX-3 comes with parking sensors (from Dynamic trim upwards) that will alert you as to how close you are to the objects behind you. In Individual models, this is bundled with a reversing camera to make it even easier.
Dynamic (sensors only) and Individual (with camera) models only.
5. Heads-Up Display
Ever dreamed of being a fighter pilot? Well here's your chance to live out the fantasy as the Mazda CX-3 has a heads-up display that will give you a readout of your speed, cruise control setting, and navigation. For those that didn't have fighter pilot fantasies, you'll want a heads-up display because it helps you keep your eyes on the road, keeping you safer.
Individual models only.
6. Blind-Spot Monitoring
Blind-Spot Monitors help keep you informed of the situation around you. Small lights in the mirrors will let you know if there is a car in your blind spot and help prevent you from turning into their path. It makes you a safer driver and reduces the chances of having an avoidable accident.
Available in Individual Plus models.
7. Lane Departure Warning
It happens to us all, we drop our focus for just a moment and our car wanders across the lane, possibly even crossing the line. This is a nuisance to other drivers and could potentially cause an accident. The audible alert of the Lane Departure Warning will let you know that you're straying and keep you on the safe, straight and narrow.
Available in Individual Plus models.
8. G-Vectoring Control
It sounds like a mouthful and its something that you probably won't even feel working. It improves the front-end grip of the CX-3 and helps it turn in better, creating a safer, more engaging driving experience. It works by modulating the throttle when you apply steering so that a small amount of the weight is transferred forwards – very clever and fun to experience! See if you can feel the change when you take a corner.
Available in all models.
