Latest Information on Toyota Prius
The Latin translation for "prius" is "to go before". The Toyota Prius was the first mass-produced hybrid vehicle that went on sale in Japan in 1997. By 2000 the car was introduced worldwide and is currently available in 90 markets. In April 2016, 5.7 million units were recorded as having been sold globally. It took two years and eighty of Toyota’s best research engineers to invent a practical hybrid powertrain. The first production model made use of a 43 kW petrol engine with a 30 kW electric drive motor. The second generation plug-in hybrid is due to be launched at the end of 2016.
