Latest Information on Opel Ascona
The Ascona was a family car produced between the 70s and 80s and is named after the Swiss town of Ascona. By 1975 more than 690,000 cars were produced with original 1.2- to 1.9-litre engines producing power ranging between 44 kW – 66 kW. Even though it wasn’t that fast, in those days it was nippy enough and being German built, its quality was good. All the while having a simple design, it was transformed into a rally car and enjoyed a successful career in motorsports. In SA it fell under the Chev badge and was called the Chevrolet Ascona, which replaced the Chevrolet 1300/1900-series.
