It was originally offered in a standard 1200 saloon guise. 4.3-million cars were produced over its 20-year lifespan, with about a million units sold for each generation. The Ford Cortina has also played a distinguishable role in motorsport. The Cortina was then replaced by the Sierra in 1982.
