Seller's comments
This specific car is a 1959 model and could not be less flamboyant! It was imported to SA in 2007 as a standard runner. The decision was made in 2010 to restore and modify the car, to create the best El Camino in the country. After four years of precision, skill and passion, hard work and a hefty financial injection that goal was achieved! This car is most definitely the best in South Africa and probably one of the very best in the world! The Rotisserie Restomod and total upgrade started with a 10,3 L, 632 cubic inch crate motor, prepared by Scott Shafiroff at Shafiroff Racing Engines. This type of engine is rarely fitted in a streetcar and is usually reserved for drag racing cars only. Naturally, to accommodate this beastly powerplant everything else on this car was modified. A 1150 cfm Dominator carburetor with a racing fuel pump and high-pressure fuel lines insures a reliable fuel supply. A 4L80 E 4 speed transmission transfers 672 kW to the rear wheels via a Moser 35-spline diff. The standard El Camino suspension was replaced by a custom-built rack and pinion set-up in front and a 5-link suspension at the rear. The 17-inch Rally wheels are shod with 245/45/17 tyres in the front and 335/40/17s at the rear. The rear rims bolt on to custom made hubs with no less than 10 wheel bolts, too ensure the wheels stay on the car! No expense was spared on this car, and the list of enhancements is too long to mention. It is finished “sea mist” turquoise pearl with a matching interior.
