Ducati says their Scrambler has come of age and the land of Joy is now bigger and better.

The Ducati scrambler 1100 aims to meet the needs of even the demanding expert motorcyclist, but without compromising the fun, style and freedom that the Scrambler stands for. A beefier bike with a bigger engine and an even better set of standard equipment that lets riders upgrade without leaving the Scrambler family.

Just like in the 60s when the Scrambler was available in three different engine sizes (250, 350 and 450), today’s Scrambler offers three displacement sizes: 400, 800 and 100.

Ducati says this results in a complete range with a flair for fun, iconic style, simplicity and self expression.

The new 1 79cc engine delivers generous torque from the bottom the rev range and an agile Scrambler chassis set-up that has been developed in parallel with the engine to put higher performance within reach of all riders.

The Scrambler 1100 has modern safety features such as Bosch Cornering ABS and traction control.

Like the other Scrambler versions, Ducati says the 1100 has been developed so it can be modified with ease and comes in three different versions: the Scrambler 1100, the Scrambler 1100 Special and the Scrambler 1100 Sport that also has Öhlins suspension.

The Scrambler 1100 has three riding modes that combine various levels of power and traction control. Active is for sporty riding; Journey is for what Ducati describes as care-free riding; and City, which Ducati says ensures maximum safety and smoothness. The settings are helped along by the ride-by-wire throttle.

The traction control has four levels that can be manually selected and it can also be completely switched off.

With the launch of the Scrambler 1100, Ducati also introduced specially designed rider accessories such as a leather jacket, a fabric jacket and open-face co-produced with Roland Sands.

Power of 63kW from 1 079cc is not exactly blistering, but then the Scrambler is not supposed to be a sports bike. But the larger capacity engine should make riding more effortless than before.
