To answer this question by definitively naming one brand over the others would be looking for trouble…

But we can unequivocally say that there are no bad bikes out there. And every brand is very serious about the integrity of their products and the way they are perceived in the market.

Although South Africa is not a huge market, we are fortunate to have the range of motorcycles on offer from the best-known brands in the world. Motorcycles imported into South Africa conform to the European ECE standards; the highest standards in the automotive world as far as safety issues are concerned. The Competition Tribunal also enforces strict adherence to recall campaigns.

This means that the buyers and owners of motorcycles are quite safe in buying any of the brands. And even if a specific model is discontinued, the importer must still ensure parts availability for another 10 years.

If you are concerned about after-sales service, research the dealer networks and authorised service centres of the brand of motorcycle you are interested in.
