Triumph announces prices

Triumph South Africa (Pty) Ltd, the new distributor of Triumph motorcycles in South Africa, has released prices for their product offerings. Triumph SA was appointed from 1 March 2018 and takes over from Kawasaki Motorcycles South Africa, that imported Triumph motorcycles for 23 years.

At the announcement, CEO Bruce Allen said that due to timing around the regulatory processes, they should be able to start selling new Triumph motorcycles in May.

Triumph will be selling three models in their adventure and touring range: the Tiger Sport (previously known as the Tiger 1050) and two variants each of the Tiger 800 and Tiger 1200 (previously badged as the Tiger Explorer 1200). Notwithstanding the volatile exchange rate and the fact that a whole model-year has passed, pricing is quite aggressive, with particularly the Tiger Sport offering excellent value.

Two naked bikes join the local line-up, the 675cc Street Triple RS and the 1 050cc Speed Triple RS.

Triumph SA operates from South Road in Sandton, where a service facility will be in full swing in the second half of May. Construction on a new Triumph World Black facility will be starting soon in Woodmead, Johannesburg, and could be open to the public around the end of the year.

Allen said the Woodmead facility would be followed by dealerships in Cape Town in 2019 and in Pretoria in 2020.

The existing Triumph dealers in Gauteng – Centurion, Edenvale and Boksburg – will continue to act as authorised Triumph service centres during construction of the new facility in Woodmead. Cape Town, Durban and Port Elizabeth will also continue as authorised Triumph service centres.

“These dealerships will now just be authorised service centres, because our only retail dealership will be in Johannesburg,” Allen said.

He said that all current warranties on products sold by the previous Triumph retail network remain valid for the balance of its term and will be honoured by Triumph SA.

Triumph South Africa is a partnership between Allen and the Fury Motor Group, a diverse private motor group representing various automotive brands in Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal.
