Marquez takes his first 2016 victory

With 8 competitors not completing the race, the tone was set for a crazy day of racing, that saw Marquez battle a flag to flag race. Current world champion Lorenzo crashed out on lap 6, leaving Dovizioso, Marquez and Rossi to form the breakaway pack, with the bike swap looming. However, it was on a final twist that Iannone made a move on Dovizioso and lost the front end, costing both riders championship points and promoting Rossi and Pedrossa to the podium.
