Kawasaki is changing the big-engined flagship thrill-seeker ZZR1400 for 2016

The bike with an engine the size of a car is being changed for 2016 – the Kawasaki ZZR1400 is receiving a model-year update, with refinements to its engine and chassis.  In South Africa this bikes is named Ninja ZX14R.

Cleaner, but no less mean

The Kawasaki ZZR1400 (aka Ninja ZX14R) is a big bike with big performance, and to meet Euro4 emission regulations, the ZZ41400 and ZZR1400 Performance Sport bikes are adjusted to be cleaner, but no less mean, as these keep their 200hp (149kW) engine outputs from the 1441cc engine.  New ECU settings and a revised evaporative and exhaust sys

Fast-rising readouts now stay in focus

Ensuring the fast-rising speed and rev readouts stay in focus, the new instrument cluster gets high-visibility dials and LCD displays using a dot-pattern background.  The display can be switched between black-white to make easier reading if you are a day or night rider.

Performance Sport gets more

If the standard wild ZZR1400 is still too mild for you, the Performance Sport model should do.  It receives further upgrades from the shelves of top performance brands:  new monobloc Brembo M50 brake calipers, Öhlins rear shock absorber, and Akrapovič silencers.

2016 pricing

Local 2016 availability and pricing have not yet been released.  The 2015 Kawasaki ZX14R retails at R 189 995, and the model ZX14R Öhlins for R 195 995.
