I am a 30 year old female looking to buy my first car.

I know nothing about cars. I have no favourite car. I just know I want an automatic, fuel efficient, safe car. I live in a somewhat high crime area, so I don't want a car that is on the top of the list for being stolen or highjacked (think VW). I will be driving it to and from work, and going home occasionally.
I do have about R70 000 deposit. I am all for second hand cars. I am the only bread winner at home, so I do not want to pay anything above R4000 (all inclusive). I also have just gotten my license (3 months ago). I know I might be asking for too much.

Have no fear as there's definitely a car out there to fit your criteria. Two cars spring to mind that are safe, reliable and fuel efficient while also being reasonably priced on the used car market.
