BMW’s plug-in hybrid supercar with its groundbreaking design and showstopping scissor doors is at the forefront of the electric sports car revolution. The World Car of the Year organization declared the i8 as the winner of the 2015 World Green Car Award. The i8 has a transverse, mid-engine layout, and is all-wheel driven. It also has a bit of a split personality. Drive it in EV (Electric Vehicle) mode, and it’s a silent, fuel saving superstar. Driven in Sport mode, it becomes a bit of a hooligan, and even features launch control, with all systems kicking in to catapult its occupants into the future with a throaty (but imitation) roar.
