GTI Choice

I am a GTI fan and previously owned the Golf 7 GTI - I had a lot of fun with this car and subsequently sold it as I was abroad quite a bit so could not fully enjoy the car anymore. The Golf 8 GTI is a lovely car but I am not impressed by the tech inside and the loss of the old school knobs and dials inside. Moreover, the price of this Golf 8 GTI fully loaded makes it an unattractive vehicle price wise. I am considering the Golf 7.5 GTI TCR which was a limited edition swansong release in SA for the outgoing 7.5 GTI. The prices are quite expensive and have held firm as this was a limited release vehicle. What are your thoughts on purchasing one of these? Is it a wise investment or just plain foolish. The TCR is just an awesome car though so I am led by emotion here instead of the head. I would keep the vehicle and don't intend selling it but rather have fun with it when down in SA (note I still live abroad). Mileage will this be limited on the car going forward.

Hi there,

You have a lovely choice of vehicle there. The 7.5 GTI TCR was a cracking vehicle and yes, prices of the vehicle has held firm. That being said, if you are able to handle the finances pertaining to the vehicle and at the same time find joy in the vehicle, then by all means it's the car for you. Even though you stay abroad and drive the car once in a while, it's still fine. Consider it a personal investment in your own happiness.
