The reasoning is simple: most first-time car buyers tend to operate on a limited budget, so reliability and low maintenance costs are paramount. We recommend naturally-aspirated cars with manual transmissions because there are fewer potential failure points, leading to fewer potential financial drains. Not all turbo- or automatic cars go bang, but those that do, especially the older (cheaper) ones....
