Hi there
All petrol- or diesel-powered cars use engine-driven air-con compressors, so we're not sure where story of the Polo's "electric aircon" comes from. However, EVs and most hybrids employ an inverter-type, variable-load air-con compressor, which is a true electric unit.
In short, using the AC in either a Polo or a Swift will take power from the engine, and increase fuel consumption while in use. Today's AC compressors are much more efficient than old-style compressors, though, so the power/economy penalty will be much less than you'd imagine.
Hope this helps!
