If you're going to replace the engine yourself, watch some YouTube videos about that before deciding - it's quite an involved job, and if you're not mechanically proficient and well-equipped, this task is beyond the scope of most home mechanics.
If you're going to have a workshop perform the task for you, first ascertain that such as job is within their scope.
It's best if you source the engine yourself. Try ABC Auto Parts in Chloorkop to start - they will likely have the correct engine and in good condition in stock. Other well-known Audi spares yards include Fourspring Auto Parts in Edenvale and Quantro Spares in Pretoria.
Don't be afraid of negotiating.
Don't forget to take the car for police clearance and update the NATiS (registration) document once the car is back on the road. otherwise you might just run afoul of the metro police!
