Hi there!
The EcoSport is a well-regarded vehicle, although there are some things to know before buying one.
Firstly, there is an (as yet unresolved) issue with security, leaving most EcoSports exposed to break-ins and theft. There are some aftermarket solutions available (to protect the door lock mechanisms), but Ford doesn't acknowledge them and thus won't carry the cost of this modification.
We'd recommend sticking to a non-turbo petrol EcoSport, because it's less likely to require expensive maintenance as it ages. For the same reason, we'd also suggest that you get one with a manual gearbox. The less mechanical complication, the lower the possibility of expensive repairs and maintenance.
However, if you can get a low-mileage manual EcoSport with the 1.0T EcoBoost engine and some remaining warranty left over at a good price, it should also serve you well. Just remember to stick to the manufacturer's recommendations for service and maintenance, and you should be fine.
Hope this helps!
