Looking at hatchbacks between R 300 000 and R 350 000 listed on our site, the Megane GT certainly seems appealing. However, be aware that its dual-clutch gearbox (actually any dual-clutch gearbox) will now be reaching the age where, if it starts acting up, you'll be in for very expensive repairs. Our suggestion would be to stick to a manual-transmission car, such as the Fiesta and Focus STs in that list, or treat yourself to a pretty Mazda3 2.0 instead. The Polo has a good reputation, but its theft risk makes it a car that will cost you quite a lot on insurance...
