Hi there
The question regarding 95- and 93 octane petrol is a bit muddled when it comes to naturally-aspirated cars (no turbo or supercharger) like your Hyundai. Some non-turbo cars have very high compression ratios, which need the highest available octane fuel, while others are less sensitive.
Here's what we suggest you try:
- Carefully monitor your car's fuel consumption over three full tanks of fuel on 95 octane.
- Then, when the third tank is almost completely empty, fill the car with 93 octane.
- Monitor your car's fuel consumption over the next three full tanks of fuel.
- If the averaged consumption figures over the three tanks of 95 is lower than it is over the three tanks of 93, your car is experiencing sub-optimal combustion on the 93 octane, and indicates that it needs to run on 95.
- If there's no difference in consumption, your car is just as happy running on 93 as it is on 95, which means that you can switch over to 93 octane in the future.
Hope this helps!
