Hi there
These Audis are well-made cars, but they are also loaded with all manner of complex electronic systems and high-tech electronic things. This means that, as they age (in years, not necessarily in mileage), some things will start to go wrong. These things will most likely then be quite expensive to repair as well, so if you do buy this particular car, we'd suggest you set aside a few thousand Rands every month to cover those expenses as they come along.
There's one red flag, however, and that concerns the automatic gearbox: some of these cars used a MultiTronic CVT transmission, which has a rather poor reputation for durability in the trade. If this car is so equipped, have it checked out by a reputable expert (Erlemanns in Johannesburg knows everything about these transmissions) before signing on the dotted line. Better still to purchase an extended warranty with full gearbox cover, or just avoid anything with a MultiTronic altogether.
Hope this helps!
