Hi there
The Haval H1 is essentially the same vehicle as the older GWM M4, which in turn is an update of the older GWM Florid - which is a re-design of an older US-market Toyota model. This means that, mechanically, the H1/M4/Florid uses components from the first Yaris generation we received in South Africa - making for painless maintenance even in the long run. Body parts may however be more of an issue, but GWM (Haval) does have a massive parts warehouse, so even that shouldn't be too much of a hassle.
Safety-wise, the H1 is probably not the safest car out there, but it does have two airbags and ABS, so it's no worse than any other budget car out there - and it's definitely a fair bit better in this respect than something new and cheap such as a Renault Kwid or a Datsun Go...
As for the H2, it has some potential (as long as you avoid the automatic derivative, which was revieved here on AutoTrader: https://www.autotrader.co.za/car-revi...). It's likely to be a bit better than the H1/M4/Florid in terms of safety, because it's a newer design, and comes with more luxuries, but at a rather higher price.
Hope this helps!
