Hello there!
These two cars are very closely matched (and very economical) on fuel consumption, with the Mazda2 returning slightly better figures in real-world driving. However, Mazda service- and maintenance parts are traditionally more expensive than those of similar cars, so if you're planning to service it with OEM (genuine) parts, the Mazda will most likely cost a bit more on upkeep.
In short: for fuel economy, choose the Mazda2. But for lower maintenance costs, the Kia will likely suit you better.
