Yes you can trade-in a car that was in an accident before but, and unfortunately, the car won't hold the same value as the same non-accident car its age with similar mileage. If it’s a really old model than its depreciated value might be low already and not likely to lower the car’s value much more.
As a general and ethical rule, it's best to be honest about it when taking it for evaluation because dealers have a sharp eye when it comes to noticing cosmetic differences and they will still spot it even if you omit to tell them. And if by chance they don’t, when they call up a vehicle history report on the car the accident reports will show, along with insurance claims.
