Hi Darren,
With the Subaru’s - if all servicing and oil changes have been done on the car from time to time, service intervals are every 12,500km, you're looking at spending around R10k-R15k for a major service, depending on where you go. Make sure to budget for the 100k service. Fuel consumption is roughly around 350km/tank. While they are good and reliable cars and the AWD is great, it doesn't have the best resale value and price of parts can be expensive. You may also incur uneven wear on the tyres - the AWD system can be a bit sensitive if it’s not perfectly all in alignment - the wheels can be rotated with each service.
Polo 1.6 – For the 15k service you’re looking at under R2000, 30k service around R3000 and 60k service under R5000 (these are rough average estimates, they can be a little more or even a little less). Your fuel consumption figures average around 850km-1000km’s per tank. Also note, VW service dealerships charge for the service and labour separately.
Hope this insight was helpful!
Have a great day
