Porsche Cayenne – Summer 2010

Porsche’s big SUV has been given a thorough makeover. It’s hoped this new Cayenne proves just as popular as its predecessor, which accounts for 50 per cent of the company’s profits

  • The new Cayenne’s styling is more in line with the rest of the Porsche range with a leaner, sleeker look despite its increased size
  • Prices will range from £41,404 to £81,589 for the range-topping Cayenne Turbo
  • The entry-level model gets a 296bhp 3.6-litre engine with a claimed average economy of 28.5mpg – up from 21.0mpg on the previous version


Mercedes SLS AMG – Summer 2010

The all-new Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG is the modern day gullwing, a car that brings a legend from the fifties bang up to date.

  • World premiere at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show
  • Powered by an AMG 6.3-litre, front-mid V8, capable of 0-62mph in 3.8 seconds and has an electronically-limited top speed of 197mph
  • Priced at £145,000/li>


BMW 5 Series M Sport – Summer 2010

BMW will launch M Sport versions of the new 5 Series saloon and estate in the UK in September.

  • Upgrades include Series M Sport gets M Sports suspension, an M aerodynamics package, 18-inch M lightweight alloys and sports seats
  • It will be available on all variants, including a new 295bhp 3-litre straight-six diesel engine – which produces 442lb/ft of torque, is capable of sprinting from 0-62mph in 5.7seconds and returning an impressive 46.3mpg
  • The 5 Series M Sport will start from £31,270 for the 520d, ranging up to £53,615 for a 550i


Volkswagen Phaeton – Summer 2010

The Volkswagen Phaeton – the company’s luxurious flagship model – has been given a thorough sprucing including a new look.

  • Like the recent Polo and Touareg, the Phaeton’s nose features cleaner, more angular headlights, while the grill and front bumper have also been redesigned and given a liberal smattering of chrome.
  • The engine range remains as before, with a choice of either a 3-litre V6 TDI diesel or the monstrous 6-litre W12 petrol.
  • The new Phaeton goes on sale in the UK in August, with prices expected to start from just under £41,000.


Infiniti M – Summer 2010

Inifiniti’s new M saloon debuted at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show and is set to arrive in the UK this September.

  • Will be available with V6 petrol and diesel engines, a hybrid version will follow in 2011
  • Designed to compete with the BMW 5-Series and Mercedes E-Class
  • Prices look set to start at £32,000


Alfa Romeo Giulietta – Summer 2010

The Alfa Romeo Giulietta was one of the best-looking cars at the Geneva Motor Show – it will also be one of the most eagerly anticipated new cars of the year.

  • Understated styling and classy finish inside and out
  • Best balance of performance versus economy is the 1.6-litre TDi, with its 118mph top speed and 62.8mpg average fuel consumption
  • On the road price of between £17,200 and £22,075


Volkswagen Touareg – Summer 2010

Seven years and over half a million sales later, the Volkswagen Touareg – like its Porsche Cayenne sibling – is firmly established as a rival to the BMW X5, Mercedes ML and Range Rover Sport. The sequel arrives this summer, priced from £41,000.

  • Thanks to shedding over 200kg, cleaning up its aerodynamics and adopting a fresh range of engines, CO2 emissions and fuel economy has been improved by 20 per cent
  • The entry-level 3.0 V6 TDI diesel is expected to be the biggest selling model, and is also the most economical, returning 38.1mpg and emitting 195g/km of CO2, despite its 238bhp and 205 lb/ft torque output
  • All new Touaregs are equipped with an eight-speed automatic gearbox, touchscreen satellite navigation and a leather interior


Toyota Auris Hybrid – Summer 2010

The Toyota Auris Hybrid is a road tax free, ultra-efficient version of the company’s latest Golf rival. If you’re interested in a hybrid, but don’t want to own an attention-grabbing eco car, the Auris HSD is as good as it gets.

  • Toyota claims the Auris HSD will achieve 74.3mpg, with emissions of 89g/km to 93g/km, depending on trim level
  • It is powered by a 1.8-litre petrol engine and a nickel-metal hydride battery which is connected to an electric motor and generator – these combine to provide 136bhp and 257lb/ft, giving you 0-62mph in 11.4 seconds and a top speed of 112mph
  • Cost from £18,950


Nissan Micra – Summer 2010

The next Nissan Micra supermini is bigger, lighter and more fuel efficient than before, yet seats four adults and offers plenty of room for luggage.

  • It will be powered by two new efficient 1.2-litre petrol engines, but only the 80bhp and 115g/km CO2 will be available from launch
  • A supercharged 100bhp version will follow six months later, that’s capable of emitting just 95g/km thanks to a stop-start system
  • It will be priced from around £9,500


Renault Wind – Summer 2010

Renault’s new coupe-convertible – which debuted at this year’s Geneva Motor Show – features two seats, engines from the Renault Twingo and a folding electric roof which will open in 12 seconds.

  • Priced from £15,500 to £18,200, undercutting rivals the Mazda MX-5 Roadster Coupe and Peugeot 207 CC
  • Choice of two engines: a 99bhp 1.2-litre or a 131bhp 1.6-litre unit, which 0-62mph in 8.7 seconds and a top speed of 125mph
  • Renault claims fuel economy and CO2 emissions of 44.8mph and 145g/km for the 1.2-litre engine and 40.3mpg and 165g/km for the top-of-the-range 1.6-litre


Volkswagen Touran – Summer 2010

Sharper styling has brought Volkswagen’s seven-seat Touran MPV bang up-to-date with the rest of the German firm’s range.

  • There’s a choice of two diesel engines – a 1.6-litre TDI with 89 or 104bhp and a 2.0-litre TDI unit in 138bhp or 168bhp guise
  • There’s also the option of two petrol units – a 104bhp 1.2-litre TSI and a 104bhp 1.6-litre TSI unit, which VW claims will average 61.4mpg
  • Practicality is high on the agenda which is why the Touran comes with 39 cubby holes and seven seats as standard, whilst the two rear rows can be folded down individually to leave either 695 or a whopping 1,913 litres of boot space


Renault Megane CC – Summer 2010

Renault’s four-seater Megane Coupe Cabriolet debuted at this year’s Geneva Motor Show and sees the French manufacturer setting its sights on the premium market.

  • Extras include auto electric parking brake, hands-free starting and locking, cruise control, daytime running lights, directional bi-Xenon headlamps and USB connectivity
  • Features a novel two-piece, full-length folding glass roof which can be raised or lowered in 21 seconds
  • Prices have yet to be announced but are expected to remain competitive to rival the Peugeot 308 CC, which starts at £20,000


Volvo S60 – Summer 2010

The all-new S60 debuted at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show and is expected to hit showrooms this August.

  • Based on a concept shown at the Detroit Motor Show
  • Will be powered by one powerful petrol engine and two frugal diesel engines when it goes on sale, with three more petrol engines to follow
  • Prices expected to be between £19,995 and £27,270


Ford C-Max – Summer 2010

The new Ford C-Max has been given a sleek new look and, for the first time, Ford is offering it in five- and seven-seat configurations.

  • Based on the Iosis MAX concept car from the 2009 Geneva Motor Show
  • Powered by an all-new 1.6-litre Ford EcoBoost direct injection petrol engine
  • Features semi-automatic parallel parking and a blind-spot detection system


Bentley Mulsanne – Summer 2010

Bentley’s £220,000 flagship model will go head-to-head with the Rolls-Royce Phantom and the Maybach to fight it out in the super-luxury segment when it goes on sale this summer.

  • Powered by the latest version of the iconic 6.75-litre V8 engine, complete with twin turbochargers which produces 505bhp and 752lb/ft at 1,750rpm
  • Emissions are over 15 per cent lower than the Arnage it replaces, at 393g/km CO2
  • First car to be designed and engineered entirely by Bentley for over half a century


Mini Countryman – Autumn 2010

The first ever production Mini to pack four-wheel drive, the Mini Countryman takes the brand’s line-up to four distinct models, alongside the hatchback, Cabriolet and Clubman.

  • It’s longer, wider and taller than any other Mini, and it’s the first Mini to have four, wide-opening doors
  • Five engines will be offered from other models in the Mini range – including three petrols and five diesels – and buyers will be able to choose between four or five seat configurations at no additional cost
  • Prices will range from £16,000 to £20,800


Nissan Juke – Autumn 2010

Nissan has added the Juke to an expanding crossover range, which includes the Nissan Qashqai and Nissan Murano; but unlike those models, Nissan says the Juke adds a heavy dose of sportiness.

  • Engine-wise, the Juke will be available with three engines: a pair of 1.6-litre petrols in 190bhp and 117bhp and a 1.5-litre diesel
  • The Juke will be manufactured in Sunderland
  • No official prices have been announced, but a Nissan insider revealed it should cost between £13,000 and £20,000


Audi A1 – Autumn 2010

The Audi A1 stole the headlines at this year’s Geneva Motor Show – and not just because it was unveiled by singer Justin Timberlake.

  • Three engines will be available from launch: two petrol engines of 1.2 and 1.4-litres in size, which both emit 119g/km and return 55.4mpg, and an ultra-efficient 1.6-litre diesel, returning 72.4mpg and emitting just 102g/km
  • Prices kick off at £13,145 for the entry-level 84bhp 1.2 TFSI SE, making it £1,875 more expensive than the cheapest Mini, the First
  • Like its rival the Mini, the A1 will be hugely customisable – as well as ‘SE’, ‘Sport’ and ‘S-line’ trim levels, there will be a choice of ten exterior colours, three contrasting finishes for the distinctive roof arch and five interior colours – it’s unlikely any two A1s will be alike


Seat Alhambra and Volkswagen Sharan – Autumn 2010

Seat and Volkswagen have both revealed their replacements for the Alhambra and Sharan.

  • Both models adopt sliding rear side doors and a more versatile seating plan, with the second- and third-row seats now capable of folding flush into the floor – rather than having to be toppled or lifted out completely – when extra load space is needed
  • Petrol power will be provided by 148bhp 1.4-litre and 197bhp 2-litre units, whilst the diesel options are a 138bhp or 168bhp 2-litre engine – the former of which is good for 51.5mpg and 143g/km of CO2
  • The Alhambra will start at around £22,000, whilst the Sharan will set you back a little more at around £23,000


Vauxhall Astra Sports Tourer – Autumn 2010

A practical Vauxhall Astra Sports Tourer will join the new hatchback, which has already racked up 30,000 sales in the UK.

  • Available to order from October, the load area has been extended by 28mm and boot space increases to 500 litres – flat wall linings, flex fold 60:40 splitting rear seats and a flat load area give a maximum capacity of 1,550 litres with the rear seats folded down
  • The Vauxhall Astra Sports Tourer will be available with 99, 113 and 138bhp petrol engines and 108, 123 and 158bhp diesel motors
  • A start and stop equipped ecoflex model will be available soon after the initial launch, with low fuel consumption and CO2 emissions


Mazda 5 – Autumn 2010

Mazda pulled the wraps off its all-new 5 MPV at this year’s Geneva Motor Show.

  • The new 5 retains its sliding rear doors and will be available in five or seven-seat versions
  • Engine-wise, there will be only two options available at launch, a 113bhp 1.8 or a 148bhp 2.0-litre with start-stop
  • The improved 2-litre version is the most efficient engine, offering average fuel economy of around 40.9mpg while carbon dioxide emissions are pegged at 159g/km


Kia Sportage – Autumn 2010

Kia revealed its third-generation Sportage crossover SUV at this year’s Geneva Motor Show – it has been lowered and widened, with more space on the inside and a longer wheelbase

  • The all-new Sportage will go head-to-head with the Peugeot 3008 and Skoda Yeti
  • Five engines will be offered from other models in the Mini range – including three petrols and five diesels – and buyers will be able to choose between four or five seat configurations at no additional cost
  • There’s no word on price as yet, but expect the new Sportage to stick to the current models £15,000 – £20,000 price range


Peugeot iOn – Autumn 2010

The Peugeot I0n will be fully electric, emit no CO2 and be exempt from road tax

  • Developed in cooperation with Mitsubishi and is based on the Miev
  • Produces 64bhp and has a maximum speed of 80mph
  • Has an 80 mile range and will take six hours to fully recharge from a mains power supply, or 30 minutes to an 80 per cent recharge

Ford Focus – 2011

The Ford Focus’ status as Britain’s best-selling car means you are more than likely to know someone who owns one, or even drive one yourself. The sequel is set to arrive in 2011.

  • The third-generation Focus will be available as a hatch from launch, with an ST estate version to follow later in the year
  • Four engines have been announced to date: a 1.6 petrol, 1.6 petrol with ecoboost and a 1.6 and 2-litre diesel
  • Ford promises the new Focus will deliver best-in-class fuel economy and CO2 figures, along with major improvements in ride and handling, quietness, quality, safety and technology


Mini Coupe and Roadster – 2011/12

Mini has announced it will increase its range to six distinct models when the production-ready Coupe goes on sale in 2011 and the Roadster a year later. Both concept cars debuted at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show and reveal a glimpse at the future of the brand.

  • The two-seat Mini Coupe Concept is 15mm shorter than the hatch’ and a full 50mm lower – think oversized wheels, a lightweight aluminium roof and a long tapering profile which leads into a sharp rear spoiler
  • With its two seats and tight-fitting soft roof, the Mini Roadster Concept shares the length and width of the regular hatch’ but is again 50 mm lower – it’s windscreen is raked back at a steep angle for a more open driving experience
  • Power options will incorporate the BMW Group’s EfficientDynamics and Mini Minimalism principles for improved fuel consumption and CO2 emissions


BMW X3 – 2011

The next-generation BMW X3 has been caught in the wild while undergoing final testing before its launch later this year.

  • Despite the psychedelic disguise, it’s clear BMW’s mid-sized SUV won’t stray too far from the design formula of the smaller X1 and larger X5 – it will also be lighter than before to help improve performance, fuel economy and handling
  • Standard and M Sport versions will be available, while four- and six-cylinder diesel and petrol engines will make for an extensive model range
  • The car will make its debut at the Paris motor show in October, with UK sales starting in early 2011


Volkswagen Jetta – 2011

The new-look Volkswagen Jetta will go on sale early next year.

  • Based on the NCC coupe concept which debuted at the Detroit Motor Show in January, the new Volkswagen Jetta is 90mm longer than the outgoing model and incorporates the Golf family nose and the side profile of a Passat
  • Power will be provided by six engines: petrol options include are a 104bhp 1.2-, a 1.4- with 121 or 158bhp and a 197bhp 2-litre TSI, while diesel alternatives will be limited to a 104bhp 1.6- and 138bhp 2-litre TDI
  • Bluemotion Technology will be made available on the 1.2-litre TSI and 1.6-litre TDI models, which will help the latter to return 109g/km and 68.9mpg


McLaren MP4-12C – Spring 2011

2011 sees the launch of one of the most eagerly anticipated supercars of recent years, the McLaren MP4-12C

  • The first in a range of high performance sports cars from McLaren
  • Mid-engined supercar, powered by a bespoke McLaren ‘M838T’ 600bhp 3.8-litre twin-turbo V8
  • Price is likely to be around £150,000


Lexus LFA – Spring 2011

Lexus’ first supercar will finally hit the market in 2011 – but at more than six times the price of its super-saloon sibling the IS F, will it live up to the hype?

  • Powered by a 553bhp 4.8-litre V10 engine, giving you a top speed of just over 200mph and 0-62mph in 3.7 seconds
  • Production is limited to just 500 units
  • Price expected to be in the region of £336,000
