• Four or five seats available
• More rear interior space
• On sale in Spring
The five-door Audi A1 Sportback has been announced ahead of its launch in early 2012.
Its extra practicality and interior space will increase the potential audience for the A1 supermini. It’s slightly taller and wider (6mm on both counts) and comes with four seats as standard. For no extra cost a middle rear seat can be added.
Engine choices will remain the same as the three-door, with three TFSI petrol and three TDI diesel motors offering between 86 and 185bhp.
Fuel consumption should be very close to the three-door, with only a moderate increase in weight and optimised aerodynamics to help reduce unwanted drag.
The boot measures 270 litres in size – the same size as the three-door – increasing to 920 litres with the rear seats folded down.
Twelve colours will be available, including the new Samoa Orange, whilst contrasting roof lines will also be available.
